Lauren Marx graduated from Webster University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts with an emphasis on drawing. Animals always have been the subjects of her drawings ever since she was a child. She spent weekends at the Saint Louis Zoo and endless hours watching “National Geographic’s: Mutual of Omaha: Wild Kingdom”. They influenced her desire to learn about biology while attending high school. While in high school, she began collecting bones, feathers, and books. Over these past few years, her passion grew to zoology, cosmology, and mythology.
Animal symbolism, biology, mythology, and cosmology have always been intriguing to me. My
attraction to these topics have compelled me to find a way to create images that combine elements from these dissimilar fields to shape a universe that reflects my unique understanding of the interconnectivity of life. As time passes and new works are created, I am continuing to explore the exciting natural world around me. I am exploring my own creativity, evolving, and learning with each new piece in an attempt to bond with the world around me.
