AlterEgo: A Mind-Reading Device
AlterEgo is a wearable system by MIT research assistant Arnav Kapur that allows humans to converse with machines using only our thoughts. The wearable captures electrical signals, induced by subtle but deliberate movements of internal speech articulators. This enables a user to transmit and receive streams of information to and from a computing device. "Our idea was: could we have a computing platform that’s more internal, that melds human and machine in some ways and that feels like an internal extension of our own cognition?" said Arnav Kapur.
